TW: VIOLENCE, TRAGEDY

With Pride month just about wrapping up, the hate inspired Brexit masses growing in numbers, and the situation all over Mexico, especially Nochixtlan, Oaxaca, it is almost imperative to speak on these things as leftists, radicals and activists.

No amount of hate, nationalistic hysteria, or contempt for self determination is enough to slow down the revolutionaries of the world; those who would use their own blood and tears to water the tree for future generations to sit under. From across the pond, to our very own next door neighbor, to a room in our very own house, injustice knows no bounds, solidarity is what is needed most in this moment, the reactionary forces of the world are nothing but pure cowards when faced with a real fight and we the people must show that we will not stand for their terrorism.

Beginning with the tragedy in Orlando; early in the morning of June 12th, an apparent lone gunman entered an LGBTQ nightclub in Orlando and opened fire to kill 50 innocent people, many of them Trans Latinxs. Needless to say this was a horrible tragedy, and the outpouring of horrible opinions and actions soon followed due to certain facts about the shooter being misinterpreted and sensationalized by the american media machine. Among those was a discriminatory gun measure (no surprise there) that would almost certainly target Americans of Middle-Eastern descent, being pushed by Democrats with a weak symbolic gesture consisting of a sit in. But not everyone fell into the manufactured Xenophobic hate, a large part of the LGBTQ community did not let hate dominate them and stood firmly hand in hand and against all hate. One of our own, Karl M, participated in this year’s Local pride parade on behalf of “Am Keshet-Temple Sholom” , in defiance of fears and emotions that have attempted to undermine the lives of our LGBTQ comrades, his bravery exemplified the courage and strength the community is famous for. Toxic masculinity, which one could easily argue was exactly what made the shooter do what he did, has its days numbered as more and more people stand against the traditional excuses of; supposed “Mental illness”, radical islam, overabundance of guns, etc. None of these played a role in the slaying of Comrade ‘Jo’ Cox of the British Labour Party.

At around 1300 GMT, a man approached Helen Joanne Cox, shot her, stabbed her multiple times and yelled the popular fascist right wing slogan “Britain First”. The suspect is a confirmed fascist and all around right wing piece of shit, pardon my french; having ties with a litany of neo nazi, racist, xenophobic groups from both britain and the US. The right wing is growing bolder and more violent as its numbers and support increase in britain and across Europe. Now with these numbers, they feel empowered enough to do as they feel and live without consequence as they often find support from law enforcement. In a country with little guns, coward does not even begin to describe him. From Chicago, a city that has seen it’s fair share of political assassinations, we send our deepest condolences. We may not be on the same page as the Labour party as far as ideology, but as fellow leftists, solidarity against the right wing is key to our survival and struggle for a better world. However, our simplest of demands often fall upon deaf ears, especially in the country to the immediate south of us.

Nochixtlan, Oaxaca

Nochixtlan, Oaxaca

Mexico, specifically, Nochixtlan in the state of Oaxaca has been involved in a pitched battle for self determination and its stance against the mexican Narco-Government with it’s push for “education reform”. This “education reform” includes a strong focus on privatization in a country where a good education is already a luxury. As to why Oaxaca of all places, this video might provide some insight; excuse the language if it offends you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uT3eRsIxq-Q&spfreload=10

Now however, in Nochixtlan, after massive protests strengthened by the presence of the CNTE (Coordinadora Nacional de la Educación), a left leaning union, beginning May 15th, history repeated itself with the people of Nochixtlan establishing their makeshift communes (plantones) and standing strong against the violent police presence that was called in response to their organizing. So far there have been 12 confirmed dead and 25 disappered, this won’t however be confirmed by the mexican government, so this link is from a Nicaraguan site http://100noticias.com.ni/al-menos-12-muertos-y-25-desaparecidos-por-represion-en-oaxaca/  How cowardly and fearful must a governement be in order to shoot unarmed civilians with simple demands that essentially amount to doing nothing? The Mexican government is on an entirely different level of terrible for the brutality they have inflicted on our comrades, many of whom have connections with fellow activists here in the US. Oaxaca and the CNTE deserve all of our support as leftists and human beings in a struggle for a better life. The neoliberal elements of the mexican government and society will not win without a fight from the fed up citizenry.

REVOLUCIÓN

REVOLUCIÓN

These three events this june have proven one thing about reactionaries and the right wing, they are nothing but cowards who rely on their powerful resources to kill and repress. Once they are on a level playing field, or even so much as questioned, they maim like cornered dogs or flee like the weak people they truly are on the inside. We must all learn from this month and begin to stand up collectively. We must fight back, we must present ourselves as stronger than their fear tactics, our future and that of those who will replace us is the most important thing. LONG LIVE PRIDE! POWER TO THE LEFT! QUE VIVA EL PUEBLO REVOLUCIONARIO!
